NREN is organizing tutorial “Campus and R&E Networks” on 11-12 August, Radisson Hotel, Kathmandu with the involvement of University of Oregon, USA conjunction with SANOG. The goal of this tutorial is to promote the further development of research and education networks within country. This will be the great forum for discussion about Network design issues, Integration with R&E Networks.

At the same time on 14th August 2008 at 2-6pm, “South Asian Regional Research and Education Networks” meeting will going to held where This meeting will bring together leaders in research and education networking from within South Asia; representatives of major science, research, teaching and learning communities from the US, Europe, Japan, Korea, South Asia representatives Asia Pacific Advanced Network Consortium; and representatives of major funding organizations, including the US National Science Foundation, the World Bank, the European Commission and the global research and education networking community. It will focus on issues related to the build out and interconnection of dedicated advanced research and education networks within the countries and to South Asia.

4:00-4:30 Break

4:30-5:15 Areas of South Asia regional cooperation - Wide-ranging discussion of regional SA cooperation in a variety of areas (training, NOC operations). How can the countries of SA work together to enhance NREN development and what can the SA-SIG assist? What are the next specific activities that should be undertaken?

5:15-6:00 South Asia applications discussions. Applications discussion (what are the applications that are both most valuable to SA NRENs and how each SA country can contribute to the application mix) and how we (members of the SA-SIG) can work to facilitate these applications both within SA and between the US-SA. What are the next specific activities that should be undertaken?
