A MoU has been signed between NREN and the University Grants Commission (UGC)

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between NREN and the University Grants Commission (UGC) to connect research and educational networks to the UGC. From UGC facilities, UGC will now have access to the eduroam connection and the global research and education network.

Under the University Grants Commission Act (1993), the University Grants Commission (UGC) was established as an independent, statutory organization with the mission to develop Nepali academia to the highest standards worldwide while promoting, facilitating, supporting, and enhancing the quality of higher education in the nation. The UGC was established to satisfy the people’s desires for revolutionary and qualitative changes in higher education to support the all-around growth of the country as one of the results of the political changes in the early 1990s.

To guarantee smooth operations and support academic achievement, UGC allots and disburses grants to universities and higher education institutes. In order to encourage cooperation, collaboration, and the sharing of academic experiences among the universities in the nation, the UGC is also supposed to establish the academic standard of higher education.
